If I was to design the perfect game for myself as a child, the Skylanders series would be it.  Collectible figurines that you place on a portal and bring to life in a video game is as close to drug addiction as some of us may get.  Clever design, interesting characters, and a vibrant and colorful world all have contributed to making Skylanders a multi-billion dollar franchise...and oh yeah, the cost might have something to do with it.  Skylanders can certainly be enjoyed with just the base game, but to really get the most out of it, you're probably going to have to open your wallet a bit...

Sony was kind enough to offer PlayStation 4 players a sneak peak into Destiny the weekend after E3.  The three Thumbstick Athletes who have the PS4 all managed to get into the Alpha, with two getting their codes directly from Bungie, while the third resorted to begging and complaining on reddit until a kindly stranger donated a code.  (You can't keep me down forever Bungie!)  We get the chance to evaluate for ourselves whether Destiny lives up to it's lofty name.
