Episode 131: 4 in February Selection

Starting last year, the Thumbstick Athletes took part in the Four in February challenge.  The goal of the contest, to beat four games in February, is a chance for us gamers to check a few games off our backlog lists.  For this week's episode we select each others games, unlike last year when we all picked our own.  We also are leaving the last game on our lists up to a vote, with the available games listed on a previous blog post.  Later on you can hear Eric's thoughts on BioShock Infinite, but be warned, there are some spoilers.  I listed the times of the spoilers both below in the show notes and on the episode blurb.  Corey also played The Banner Saga, and we talk about legal friction between Stoic (Banner Saga dev) and King.com's dispute over the word Saga...

Episode 130: 2014 Predictions

Continuing our 2014 preview episode series, we hit on some predictions we have for the coming year.  These were generally supposed bold predictions, but obviously some are more bold than others.  You can expect to hear some sales targets, GOTY predictions, game delays etc.  One prediction may have even been discredited already (thanks for making me look bad Nintendo.)  As usual though, there was some solid discussion on the upcoming year in gaming, as well as a meaty 'What We Played' segment and our thoughts on Net Neutrality ruling from earlier in the week...

Episode 129: 2014 Games Preview Part 2

For Part 2 of our 2014 games preview, we cover the many games that don't yet have official release dates.  In fact, probably a lot of the games we covered during this episode like The Division, probably aren't even going to come out this year.  Other games, like The Witcher 3, we haven't really heard anything about, despite the estimated May release date.  The main reason for doing these episode though, is to cover some games that probably wont be the biggest AAA releases of the year and will get overshadowed by Titanfall and Destiny.  Hell, I even added 3 or 4 games to my buy list that I otherwise would have been oblivious of.  Show notes and flash player within:

Episode 128: 2014 Games Preview Part 1

With the dawning of the new year comes one of my favorite things to do; research for our 2014 games preview.  Though a lot of time goes into reading about most of the games coming out this year, it also gives me a chance get interested in games that I may have otherwise overlooked.  I can also look forward to some of the juggernauts that will be coming out later this year, games like Destiny and Watch Dogs.  For part 1 we cover all the games with solid release dates.  It is primarily made up of games coming in the first quarter, but there are a few games from late spring and summer sprinkled in there and one minor game coming out in September (ehem, Destiny...)  We also cover some controversy from our Thumbies awards episode over our thoughts on Assassin's Creed 4.  Show notes and flash player within:
